Benefits

FLEXIBLE BENEFITS
Employees who are regularly scheduled to work 20 hours or more per week are eligible to participate in the benefits program. In addition to providing you and your family with the opportunity to decide what benefits and coverage levels best suit your needs, the Flexible Benefits Program also helps you save taxes by using pre-tax dollars to pay for premiums, medical/dental and dependent care expenses.

MEDICAL PLANS
A choice of 3 Medical Programs: Tufts Total Plan, BCBS Partners Plus Plan, and BCBS Partners Value Health Plan are available for employees who are regularly scheduled to work 20 hours or more per week. The employee will be eligible for coverage upon date of hire/ benefit eligibility. The North Shore Medical Center subsidizes the cost and premiums are paid on a pre-tax basis. Employees scheduled to work 36 hrs/wk or more are eligible for cash back in lieu of medical insurance upon proof of other health insurance coverage.

DENTAL PLAN
Dental Insurance is available through Delta Dental Plan of Massachusetts for employees who are regularly scheduled to work 20 hours or more per week. The employee will be eligible for coverage upon date of hire/ benefit eligibility. The cost is subsidized by The North Shore Medical Center, and premiums are paid on a pre-tax basis. Employees scheduled to work 36 hrs/wk or more are eligible for cash back in lieu of dental insurance.

PRE-TAX SPENDING ACCOUNT
Two programs are available under the Flexible Benefits Program, which offer you the opportunity to pay for dependent care and medical/dental expenses on a before-tax basis - pay less tax and increase your take-home pay at the same time! You can contribute up to $3,000 pre-tax dollars to a Medical Care Reimbursement Account, and up to $5,000 in a Dependent Care Reimbursement Account which the Medical Center will contribute 7% to help defray the cost of day care expenses.

TUITION REIMBURSEMENT
After 6 months of continuous employment, employees regularly scheduled to work 20 hours or more per week are eligible to participate in the Tuition Reimbursement Program.

EARNED TIME
Combines vacation, holiday and sick time together into one system. Employees own and control the ET account. Weekly ET accrual is based on position, grade, and years of service. ET accrual increases at specific service dates. Upon leaving, you are paid the entire earned time account balance.

GROUP TERM LIFE INSURANCE
Basic Life Insurance - is automatically provided to benefit eligible employees from date of hire at no cost and is equal to 1 times your base annual earnings.

Supplemental Life Insurance - Employees may elect to purchase additional term life insurance for themselves, their spouses and/or their dependent children.

LONG TERM DISABILITY
Is automatically provided to benefit eligible employees from date of hire at no cost. The plan replaces 60% of your monthly income after 90 days of disability.

SHORT TERM DISABILITY
Employees can purchase short-term disability through Unum Life Insurance Company of America, Portland, Maine.

RETIREE MEDICAL SAVINGS ACCOUNT
Option to participate in a Retiree Medical Savings Account for all benefit eligible employees at age 50.

RETIREMENT PLAN
The North Shore Medical Center Retirement Plan is a partner approach toward retirement planning. Through a tax-sheltered annuity 403(b) (7), all employees can contribute a portion of their salary. Employees who complete 1 year of service, are regularly scheduled to work 20 hours or more per week, and are at least 21 years of age, will be eligible to receive employer contributions of: automatic 2-4% of salary depending on years of service, and matching contribution of 50% of first 4% of contribution. Employees have a choice of investing in 9 competitive mutual funds and life-cycle funds with a vesting schedule of 20% each year of service to 100% after 5 years. The program allows rollovers from other qualified retirement plans and is flexible to allow for changes as your needs change.
