Interventional Radiology moonlighting opportunity in New York City
Main Street Radiology is a private practice physician group consisting of over 50 radiologists including 5 interventional radiologists. Our interventional radiologists provide on call hospital coverage to New York Presbyterian Queens. Main Street Radiology IR physicians in call coverage at a level1 trauma center in the borough of Queens.
Position details
- Requesting approximately 10-12 weeks of IR call coverage per year with flexibility to schedule around desired time off. We are flexible in terms of switches when needed
- Call is scheduled in 7 day blocks from Friday evening to the following Friday morning
- On call coverage timeframe is 6pm to 6am on weekdays. Weekend coverage begins Friday at 6pm and ends Monday morning at 6am
- Call coverage during hospital recognized holidays are covered for 24 hours and coverage ends the following morning at 7AM
Reimbursement
- A full week of call coverage is $5500 (weekday rate of $600 per day, weekend and holiday rate of $1250 per day)
- On call per case reimbursement
- Malpractice coverage provided separately
Call Structure
- A radiology physician assistant takes call with the attending physician
- Consult notification through EPIC electronic medical record messaging system to the attending physician
- Verizon iPhone provided by the hospital for call coverage at no cost or you can install Epic Haiku mobile app on your personal cellphone. Free on-site parking lot access as well.
- EMR and PACS available through remote portal for reviewing notes, labs and imaging from personal computer or tablet
- Emergency procedures (GI bleeds, post partum hemorrhages, urosepsis requiring nephrostomies etc) determined by the IR attending physician; IR physician assistant notifies technologist. IR PA obtains consent and IR technologist first assists during angiography procedures.
- Phillips angiography unit with Sonosite point of care ultrasound, Siemens CT scanner. Angiography equipment will be upgraded in late 2026-early 2027 to cone beam capable Philips Azurion
- No vascular access cases, diagnostic radiology or neurointerventional responsibilities Pediatric procedures are almost never performed and generally referred to other hospital systems
- Non-emergency consults deferred to Main Street Radiology interventional radiologists
Candidate requirements
- Board certified in diagnostic and interventional radiology
- Able to reach the hospital within 1 hour for trauma notification ( Level 1 requirement)
